Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and leaders of the Rainbow Coalition have met with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in Port Harcourt as efforts to strengthen political reconciliation in the state continue.
The meeting, which took place at Fubara’s private residence on Tuesday, was attended by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, and former Senator Magnus Abe, among other political figures.
The closed-door engagement lasted for several hours, with supporters and key political associates from both camps also participating.
Although the details of the discussions were not made public, the meeting is seen as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the reconciliation between Wike and Fubara following their prolonged political dispute.
The development comes after a reconciliation committee led by Magnus Abe held meetings with Fubara and his representatives as part of efforts to bring the different political camps together.
Fubara had earlier declared that he had returned to his political family and announced his support for the Rainbow Coalition. He also endorsed Chinda as his preferred candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.
The latest meeting brings together key figures who were previously on opposing sides of the political divide in Rivers State.
Neither Wike, Fubara nor Chinda publicly addressed journalists after the meeting, leaving the specific agreements reached at the gathering undisclosed.
The engagement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Rainbow Coalition working to consolidate its structure in Rivers State.
