President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has prayed for Nigeria’s peace, unity and security while performing Umrah, the lesser Hajj, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The President made the remarks on Friday, October 30, after completing the religious exercise. Speaking with journalists, he described the pilgrimage as spiritually fulfilling and said his prayers were significant to both him and the country.

Tinubu also called for continued commitment to national development, emphasising the importance of Nigeria’s diversity in building a peaceful and secure nation.

“Our strength is our diversity, and we continue to build on that for the prospect and security of the country,” he said.

In a statement, the Presidency said the President offered prayers for divine guidance and protection, sustainable peace, national unity and relief from insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

Tinubu travelled to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 29, for the pilgrimage, following an announcement by the Presidency a day earlier.

During his departure from Abuja, he also commissioned newly acquired Nigerian Air Force helicopters and inaugurated the Presidential Air Fleet Hangar at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise.
