The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, expressing gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve in the state government.
In the letter, he described his time in the administration as fulfilling and said he was proud to have contributed to efforts aimed at advancing the growth and development of Oyo State.
He also expressed confidence in the state’s continued progress and reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ogunwuyi’s resignation comes amid the departure of several political appointees from Makinde’s administration in recent weeks, drawing attention to developments within the governor’s political camp ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although speculation has emerged that the former chief of staff could defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), neither Ogunwuyi nor the governor’s office has officially confirmed such a move.
Before his appointment as chief of staff, Ogunwuyi served in the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
His resignation letter did not state a specific reason for his decision to leave office.
