Governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ekiti State have declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The declarations were made at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally held in Ado-Ekiti, where the opposition candidates joined other political stakeholders in expressing support for Tinubu.
The PDP candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, alongside the SDP candidate, Isaac Alade, and the APM candidate, Chief Joseph Anifowose, publicly backed the President’s second-term ambition.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who represented Tinubu at the rally, urged Ekiti residents to improve on the APC’s performance in the 2023 presidential election, when the party secured 201,495 votes in the state.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, pledged that the state would deliver at least 90 per cent of its votes to Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, also challenged the state to deliver 800,000 votes for the President.
The development reflects a growing political alignment among some Ekiti opposition figures and the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 election, although their individual party affiliations remain distinct.
