Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is expected to lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto State on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
According to the ADC State Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, Atiku is scheduled to arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at 9 a.m.
The campaign flag-off is expected to take place at the party’s state secretariat, located at No. 1, Ilorin Road, Sokoto.
Lamido called on party leaders, supporters, local government and ward executives, women and youth organisations, as well as mobilisation groups, to participate in the event.
He said the exercise was part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures and consolidate support across the state ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign flag-off was initially scheduled for October 31 but was postponed to November 4 to allow for additional planning and coordination.
The event comes amid heightened political tension in Sokoto, following allegations by the ADC of attacks on its supporters and attempts to obstruct its political activities. The party has also raised concerns about the security of its members ahead of the rally.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has ordered an investigation into separate allegations by Atiku that its operatives were mobilising protesters to disrupt the campaign event.
The ADC has maintained that it will proceed with its political activities and called on security agencies to ensure adequate protection for participants.
Atiku’s planned appearance marks another step in the ADC’s mobilisation efforts as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
