The All Progressives Congress, APC, says its campaign for the 2027 presidential election will focus on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration rather than making fresh promises to Nigerians.

Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, disclosed this in Gusau, Zamfara State, after a closed-door meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal and traditional rulers in the state.

Yari said the party would adopt an issue-based campaign centred on what the Tinubu administration has achieved and its plans for the country if given another mandate.

According to him, the 2027 campaign will focus on the government’s record instead of attacking political opponents or individuals.

The former Zamfara State governor described Tinubu as a leader committed to Nigeria’s development, saying the President had demonstrated his commitment to the country.

Yari’s comments came during his first official engagement after his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

He said the decision to begin his engagements with traditional rulers was deliberate, noting that although traditional leaders are not politicians, they remain close to the people and play an important role in their communities.

Yari said securing the support and blessings of traditional rulers would be important as the party begins preparations for the 2027 election.

Governor Dauda Lawal, who hosted the meeting, said the gathering was organised to formally introduce Yari to the traditional rulers following his appointment and seek their support for his campaign responsibilities.

Lawal also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would receive full support from Zamfara State in the 2027 presidential election.

The APC’s decision to campaign primarily on the administration’s record signals an attempt by the ruling party to make its performance in office a central issue in the contest for another presidential mandate.

The 2027 election is expected to produce a highly competitive political contest as the APC and opposition parties intensify preparations ahead of the polls.
