The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned that computer-based test (CBT) centres that fail to meet its accreditation requirements will not be permitted to host candidates during the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board said only centres with adequate facilities, reliable infrastructure and the operational capacity to provide a secure and uninterrupted examination environment would receive approval.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, gave the warning during a meeting with the leadership of the Chief External Examiners, where preparations for the 2027 UTME and the readiness of examination officials were discussed.
According to the Board, the accreditation exercise is designed to identify and exclude inadequately equipped centres before the examination.
JAMB stressed that accreditation would not be automatic, adding that every centre must satisfy its prescribed standards before being approved.
The Board said the measure was aimed at protecting candidates from avoidable technical disruptions and ensuring that all candidates have access to a fair and reliable examination environment, regardless of their location.
The announcement signals the examination body’s intention to enforce stricter compliance among CBT operators ahead of the 2027 UTME.
