Professor of Political Economy, Pat Utomi, has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of being unable to establish credible allegations of wrongdoing against former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.

Utomi made the claim in a post on his official X account on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, arguing that if Obi had been involved in corruption, the Federal Government would have moved against him, particularly as an opposition figure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Utomi, the inability to produce credible evidence against Obi has made the former governor a political concern for what he described as the country’s established political elite.

He further alleged that the government would have used any available evidence to arrest and keep Obi in detention until after the election.

Utomi’s comments come amid heightened political activity and exchanges between the ruling APC and opposition figures as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, his assertions remain political allegations and have not been independently established. No evidence was presented in the reports to substantiate the claim that the government had attempted to arrest Obi or was seeking to detain him.
