President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to national development, saying his recent spiritual experience inside the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has strengthened his determination to build a prosperous Nigeria.
The President made the declaration on Monday, November 2, 2026, while reflecting on his Umrah pilgrimage, during which he and members of the Nigerian delegation were granted permission to enter the sacred Islamic site.
Tinubu expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting the delegation the rare privilege.
He described the experience as historic and deeply meaningful, adding that he used the opportunity to pray for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also prayed for national peace, prosperity and the successful development of the country.
“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” Tinubu said.
The President further stressed the importance of investing in young Nigerians, noting that decisions made by current leaders would shape the opportunities available to future generations.
He also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic outlook, describing the country’s economic foundation as solid and saying it had emerged from a difficult period.
Other members of the delegation included Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate; governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states; and business leaders Abdul Samad Rabiu and Wale Tinubu.
