Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has recorded a 3.5 per cent increase in total assets to ₦18.37 trillion for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, up from ₦17.76 trillion at the end of December 2025.

The financial services group disclosed this in its unaudited consolidated and separate financial statements submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Group and the London Stock Exchange.

GTCO also reported a profit before tax of ₦879.9 billion, representing a 2.3 per cent decline from the ₦900.8 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

The company attributed the performance to growth across its core earnings lines, although an ₦87.9 billion fair value loss affected its overall results.

Profit after tax stood at ₦614.6 billion, down from ₦699.6 billion in the corresponding period last year, partly reflecting changes in Companies Income Tax regulations that affected capital allowance reliefs.

Meanwhile, shareholders’ funds closed at ₦3.5 trillion, while the group’s deposit liabilities increased by 8.6 per cent to ₦13.98 trillion. Its net loan book declined by 4.1 per cent to ₦3 trillion.

GTCO also reported an improvement in asset quality, with its Group-level Stage 3 loans ratio falling to 4 per cent from 5 per cent at the end of 2025. The cost of risk also declined to 0.9 per cent from 2.2 per cent.

The group’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 34.2 per cent, while its cost-to-income ratio closed at 31.2 per cent.

Commenting on the results, Group Chief Executive Officer Segun Agbaje said the performance reflected the strength of the company’s business model, deposit base and operational efficiency despite challenging market conditions.
