Smartphone manufacturers are increasingly prioritising battery capacity as Nigerian consumers seek devices that can last longer amid unreliable electricity supply, demanding work schedules and increased dependence on mobile connectivity.

A new ranking published by Vanguard on October 30, 2026, highlights 10 smartphones available in the Nigerian market with some of the largest advertised battery capacities, led by a REDMI model featuring a 10,000mAh battery.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G tops the list with a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 100W fast charging and wired reverse charging of up to 27W.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G follows with an 8,340mAh battery and 67W charging, while the realme C100 4G ranks third with an 8,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

Other smartphones featured include:

  1. REDMI Note 17 – 7,700mAh
  2. REDMI 17 – 7,500mAh
  3. vivo Y31D – 7,200mAh
  4. TECNO Spark 50 – 7,000mAh
  5. itel A300+ – 7,000mAh
  6. Infinix Hot 70 Pro – 7,000mAh
  7. TECNO Spark 50 4G – 6,700mAh

The ranking features devices from Xiaomi’s REDMI range, realme, vivo, TECNO, itel and Infinix, reflecting growing competition in the large-battery smartphone segment.

However, battery capacity alone does not determine how long a phone lasts. Screen brightness, network strength, processor efficiency, applications and charging technology also influence everyday performance.

For Nigerian consumers, particularly those who spend long hours away from reliable power sources, these devices offer additional options when choosing a smartphone.
