Three officials serving under Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have resigned their appointments, marking another round of departures from the state government ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Those who resigned are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

Their resignation letters were dated November 2, 2026, with the officials indicating that their departures would take immediate effect.

Ojo expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve but did not disclose a reason for his decision.

Oyeleke, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, cited an unconducive working environment, saying he could no longer effectively pursue the aspirations of his people within the administration. He nevertheless thanked Makinde for his support and the opportunity to contribute to the state’s development programmes.

Falana, in his resignation letter, also thanked the governor for appointing him to serve on the state electoral commission but did not state why he was leaving.

The latest departures follow the resignation of the governor’s former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, and other political appointees in recent months.

The developments come amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, the three officials have not publicly linked their individual decisions to the emerging political developments.
