Ikeja Electric has apologised to customers on some Band A electricity feeders in Lagos after failing to meet the minimum daily supply requirement of 20 hours on November 3 and 4, 2026.

The electricity distribution company disclosed this in a notice published on its official X account on Thursday, acknowledging that affected customers did not receive the expected level of service.

The latest apology comes amid repeated electricity supply disruptions across parts of its distribution network.

An investigation by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) found that Ikeja Electric issued seven similar apologies between October 27 and November 4, 2026, over its inability to meet the 20-hour daily supply requirement on affected Band A feeders.

The repeated notices have raised concerns among customers who pay the Band A tariff but continue to experience electricity supply below the stipulated minimum.

Under the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s service-based tariff framework, Band A customers are entitled to a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily.

NERC’s regulations provide for a review of electricity tariffs where a distribution company fails to deliver the approved minimum supply hours. The commission says the distributor’s performance is assessed over a 60-day period before any adjustment is made.

Ikeja Electric has previously attributed reduced electricity supply across its network to insufficient power allocation from the national grid.

The company has yet to provide a detailed explanation in its latest notice for the specific shortfalls recorded on November 3 and 4.

The repeated disruptions have renewed questions about service delivery, tariff obligations and compensation for customers paying for premium electricity supply.
